Multiple Endings? - A Further Explanation

This devlog is pretty self explanatory from the title itself.

I will try my best to explain these stuff to you without giving any major spoiler of the game unless the fact that, yes, there are multiple endings; 3 to be exact.

This game were basically designed to be a one-time, linear experience. So plot wise, there is no turning back once you've reached a certain point within the game (except you're familiar with Unity Engine and know where to look or what to do to rollback/reset the game).
Few people that played the game asked me "I finished the game, what to do now?" or "why is the ending looks weird?", and when I asked them back what ending they got, most of them got the "unsatisfying" one.

After I reviewed the cases, I realize that the reason they got the Bad End was because of my poor design choice—not about the linear gameplay and the inability to reset the game "in an easy way", but rather some of the actions that the player need to do to progress at the "late game" phase. So, I deeply apologize if you're one of the people that got the Bad End because of this.

Now, back to the initial topic. What are the endings and what I supposed to see when I got them?

  • Bad End - The game hates you.
  • Normal End - The credit rolls.
  • True End - The error fixed.

For those who haven't finished the game, I hope this devlog can give you some hints to reach a "satisfying" ending. And for those who finished the game but unfortunately got the Bad End, I might consider creating a separate "hard-reset" tool in the future to make it more handy; but for now if you want to reset the game, you can follow these instructions:

  1. Go to your username's AppData folder. Usually it's on "C:\Users\<your usename>".
  2. Look for TanzDev folder inside either Local, LocalLow, or Roaming. Open it.
  3. Delete EvaVDateSim folder.

All and all, I do hope you enjoy this game and make good memories with Eva!

I visited her for the 6 days like it was intended... (no time jumping, etc) ; talked her so many times, listened to her and how was i supposed to know she didn't liked chocolate for that extra five points?, i had around 60 affection and the game still treated me like trash, i went back to try to undo the deletion by adding the character back and it did nothing, i feel kind of hurt because i had actually felt for her and i still got the bad ending for some reason. I'm not sure where i should direct my hate right now but i know you are still learning to make games, i shouldn't have let myself be ''absorbed'' in the game anyways my bad, i needed to realize  the  good ending was just pure rng, sorry i'm really just upset and probably many felt the same way but did not commented it because they were too confused to even put words into it.

Hello, thank you for playing the game!

I'm really glad that you actually had a feeling for Eva ... and I really appreciate it! That's the main purpose of the game: can people had/develop a feeling/empathy for someone/something that is so far, yet so close, even if it's unreal?

So, I'm going to give you a few more hints! If you still had any questions, let me know!

The points that I wrote below contains MAJOR SPOILER about the game story and mechanics.

...

  • No matter how many affection points you got, it won't affect on the progression of the game. It will always be bumped to 999999 in the "character breaking" event.
  • Although this game had indeed an RNG elements, it was a minor feature and not determining the final ending that you'll got.
  • The only time you want to delete Eva is after Eva told you to do so; when the game's unresponsive and she's waiting in the void without saying any words. This scene happened after the "jumpscare" event.
  • When you're deleting her, do not leave her. Keep her with you until the final moment.
  • If you want to reset the game and start over from the beginning, follow the instructions that I put on this devlog.

I hope this will help you to reach the better ending!
Again, thank you for playing the game~!

Nothing can be really done if i see the error right unless hard reset?

If you're getting this exact error message,

it means you got the Bad End, and yes, there's nothing you can do on this point beside resetting the game and start over again.

Thanks you for your response, now i get the error message that ask me for ILY.PCB and i tried to createa file trying to guess what it could be messing up with the error with no luck, i feel too dumb honestly, im not sure if im doing something wrong
